While setting up my interview for this Monday with the guys from the Yellow Dog Hunt Camp, Steve, one of the camp members, mentioned they would be stopping at the Co-op for supplies on their way out to camp. He asked if I wanted to meet up with them just to introduce ourselves before I ventured out to their camp Monday morning. I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to get video of these camp members supporting the local economy. After their nine hour drive to Bruce Crossing, they happily agreed to let me follow them around the grocery store with my camera.
Probably not the most exciting of video but it helps convey the message. These people come here and shop here because they lease a camp here. Once their camp is gone, so are they, and their money. A loss to an area with an already struggling economy. They were fast shoppers so I had to shoot fast too. I have to review the footage to see what there is to use. I'm hoping the GoPro video from inside the cart looks good. I wasn’t sure how busy the store would be on a Saturday afternoon so my friend Danielle was kind enough to be my assistant and get signatures from anybody I caught on camera. The store was pretty quiet so she had any easy job as I was able to avoid the few people in there. Again, struggling economy.
*The store – you know you live in a small town when you don’t refer to establishments by their name.
